Kashmir under Mauryas.
After the death of Ashoka kashmir again became independent and was ruled by his son Jaluka.According to kalhana,he was a great soldier who freed kashmir of the Mlechhas and conquered the country uopto kannuj.He is also said to have reformed administrative system in kashmir.He increased the member of heads of department from 7 to 18 which included the judge,the revenue suerintendent, and the treasure ,the commander of armey ,the envoy the puruhita and the astrologer.it is said that he brought from kannuja,"people of all four castes in his own land and particularly righteous men acquainted with the legal procedure."
After the death of Ashoka ,Buddhism had begun decline in india and so also in kashmir .Hinduism with its ceremonies and rituals of sacrifice was restored.Jaluka's call to ,"people of all four castes,"particularly to those who were well versed in legal procedure i.e, Brahmans indicates the restoration of hindu practices.But the form of hinduism which flourished in kashmir under jyestharudra and Bhutesa,at sirinagari and Nandikshera respecttively.He is said to have demolished Buddhist vihara but later adopted a concilliatory attitude towords Buddhism.

Article 370 has been declared as'temporary and transitional and special provision' in the constitution.special status has been provided to jammu amd kashmir under article 370.the state of jammu and kashmir has its own constitution separate flag and separate law of citizenship.

Indira-Abdullah Agreement of 1975
After the kashmir accord as agreement was reached between congress and the national conference with regard to the government of jammu and kashmir.Mir Quasim,congress chief minister of jammu and kashmir resigned and sheikh Abudllah was made the cief Minister in februray 1977.The government of sheikh Abdullah was voted by congress in the assembly.In the election of 1977 the national conference secured a big majority in the legislative Assembly and Sheikh Abdullah formed the government in the state.Sheikh Abdullah remained in power till his death on september 8,1982.After his death his son Dr.Farooq Abdullah became the cheif minister of kashmir.Abdullah family rules kashmir till today by Mr.Omer Abdullah son of Farooq Abdullah.Omer Abdullah is the young cheif minister of jammu and kashmir.
